Vanessa Redgrave CBE, born January 30, 1937, is an English actress known for her extensive work on stage and screen. She rose to prominence playing Rosalind in Shakespeare's 'As You Like It' with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1961. Her notable film roles include the title character in 'Julia' (1977), for which she won an Academy Award, and 'Isadora' (1968), a biography of dancer Isadora Duncan who was known for her controversial performances involving nudity and free love attitudes.
