She gained critical acclaim for playing the older mistress in two British films of the 1960s, 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' and 'This Sporting Life'. In Australia, she is remembered for her role in Peter Weir's 'Picnic at Hanging Rock'. Rachel Roberts was born on September 20, 1927.
