Natalya Negoda was born into a creative family in Moscow, with her parents being director Tamara Pavlyuchenko and actor Igor Negoda of the Moscow Young Generation Theater. She graduated from the studio school of the Moscow Art Theatre in 1986. In 1987, she debuted in Yuri Kara's drama 'Tomorrow Was the War'. In 1988, her breakthrough role came in Vasily Pichul's film 'Malenkaya Vera', for which she won both the Nika Award for Best Actress and the Silver Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival. She emigrated to the United States in the early 1990s. After a career break, she returned with roles in films like 'Tambourine, Drum' (2009), winning awards including the Golden Eagle for Best Actress.
