Margot Kidder (1948-2018), born Margaret Ruth Kidder, was a Canadian-American actress known for her role as Lois Lane in four Superman films from 1978 to 1987. Born in Yellowknife to an American father and a Canadian mother, she started acting in the 1960s with appearances in low-budget films like 'Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx' (1970) before gaining wider recognition in movies like 'Sisters' (1973), 'Black Christmas' (1974), and 'The Great Waldo Pepper' (1975). Her health struggled in the 1990s, including a car accident injury and public mental breakdown due to bipolar disorder. Post-2000, she maintained steady work in independent films and television, winning a Daytime Emmy for her role on 'R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour'.
