Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, known professionally as Lady Gaga, was born on March 28, 1986, in New York City. She began performing in the city's rock music scene in 2003 before enrolling at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Gaga signed with Streamline Records and later Kon Live Distribution after Akon recognized her vocal abilities. As an American singer and songwriter, she has sold over 170 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists globally. She is the only female artist to achieve four singles selling at least 10 million copies each. Gaga has won numerous awards, including 13 Grammy Awards, 18 MTV Video Music Awards, and was named Billboard's Artist of the Year in 2010 and Woman of the Year in 2015.
