Kelly Wearstler, born Kelly Gallagher, moved to Los Angeles after graduating with a bachelor's degree in interior and graphic design from Massachusetts College of Art. In her early career, she worked as a production assistant on films like 'HouseSitter' and served as an uncredited assistant art director on 'So I Married an Axe Murderer'. She was scouted by Playboy while working as a hostess and became September Playmate in 1994 under the name Kelly Gallagher. After paying off student loans with the earnings, she founded her design firm Kelly Wearstler Interior Design (KWID) in the mid-1990s.
