Janine Turner, born Janine Loraine Gauntt on December 6, 1962, is an American actress best known for her role as Maggie O'Connell in the prime time television series 'Northern Exposure' from 1990 to 1995. She later starred in the Lifetime original series 'Strong Medicine' from 2000 to 2002. In addition to her acting career, Turner became a published author in 2008 with the release of 'Holding Her Head High: Inspiration from 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History' by Thomas Nelson.
