American actress Greta Gerwig, born in Sacramento, California, showed an early interest in dance and theater. She graduated from Barnard College studying English and philosophy, initially intending to become a playwright. Gerwig gained recognition through her collaborations with director Noah Baumbach, including 'Greenberg' (2010). Her breakthrough role came in 'Frances Ha' (2012), for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination. She made her solo directorial debut with the critically acclaimed 'Lady Bird' (2017), also written by Gerwig.
