Frances Louise McDormand, born Cynthia Ann Smith on June 23, 1957, is an American actress renowned for her roles in film, stage, and television. She began her career on stage before making her screen debut in 'Blood Simple' (1984). McDormand has delivered notable performances in films like 'Mississippi Burning' (1988), 'Short Cuts' (1993), 'Fargo' (1996), and 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' (2017). She has won numerous awards throughout her career, including two Academy Awards for Best Actress ('Fargo', 'Three Billboards'). Married to filmmaker Joel Coen since 1984, they have an adopted son Pedro.
