Born in Céret, France, she began her acting career with small roles before gaining prominence as Gilberte Doinel in 'The 400 Blows' (1959). Notable performances include 'La Cage aux Folles' (1978) and a César Award nomination for 'A Bad Son' (1980). She gained international recognition playing Mme.
