Barbara Dare, born Stacy Mitnick on February 23, 1963 in Wichita Falls, Texas, grew up Jewish in Wayne, New Jersey, and attended Wayne Hills High School. She earned a degree in Buying & Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Dare entered the adult film industry in the mid-1980s due to her lifestyle at Plato's Retreat, signing an exclusive $100,000 contract with Essex Video. She won multiple AVN awards and was inducted into both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame. Dare briefly acted in mainstream films like 'Evil Toons' (1992), and later worked as a substance abuse counselor after overcoming her own struggles with addiction.
