Smith walked for Chanel and represented Loreal Cosmetics and Wonderbra in national campaigns. She was also named Sports Illustrated's swimwear model. After achieving success in modeling, Smith transitioned into acting, working with acclaimed directors such as Curtis Hanson, Abel Ferrara, Paul Mazursky, and Barbra Streisand. She appeared in Academy Award-winning films like L.A. Confidential (1997) and American Beauty (1999), as well as TV shows like Dame un respiro (1997) and Friends (1994).
