Actress Shelley Alexis Duvall was born in Texas on July 7, 1949 and passed away on July 11, 2024. She began her acting career after being discovered by director Robert Altman and appeared in several of his films including 'Brewster McCloud' (1970), 'McCabe & Mrs. Miller' (1971), and 'Nashville' (1975). Duvall's breakthrough role came in the drama '3 Women' (1977) for which she won a Cannes Film Festival Award and earned a British Academy Film Award nomination. She also appeared in Woody Allen's 'Annie Hall' (1977). In the 1980s, Duvall starred as Olive Oyl in Altman's 'Popeye' (1980) and Wendy Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's horror film 'The Shining' (1980), and ventured into producing children's television programming. After retiring from acting in 2002, she returned after a 21-year hiatus with the horror film 'The Forest Hills'. Duvall kept her personal life private.
