In the early 1980s, she became a sex symbol starring in horror and science fiction films such as The Fog, Creepshow, Swamp Thing, and Escape from New York. Notably, Barbeau played the voice of Catwoman in Batman: The Animated Series during the 1990s. In the 2000s, she appeared in Carnivàle as Ruthie.
