Good Girl tells the story of a young woman named Stephanie whose seemingly ordinary life takes an unexpected turn when she begins a passionate affair with a discount-store stock boy named Holden. Holden considers himself the incarnation of J.D. Salinger's Holden Caulfield, suggesting he has a troubled past and feels disillusioned with society. Despite being married to her high school sweetheart and having a seemingly stable life, Stephanie finds herself drawn to Holden's charisma and the excitement he brings into her life.
Directed by Miguel Arteta in 2002, Good Girl is a black comedy-drama that explores themes of disillusionment, infidelity, and the pursuit of excitement outside one's mundane life. The film stars Jennifer Aniston as Stephanie, a role which showcases her comedic timing and dramatic prowess beyond her usual romantic comedy persona. Good Girl was produced by several countries including Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States.
