Story

In Nazi-occupied Utrecht during World War II, Kaiser Wilhelm II lives in seclusion at his countryside estate, making him a prime assassination target. Reluctant Wehrmacht Captain Stefan Brandt is assigned to protect the former monarch, but he soon becomes embroiled in a dangerous love affair with Mieke de Jong, the mansion's Dutch handmaiden. As Brandt investigates rumors of a spy among them, his relationship with Mieke threatens to jeopardize not only his mission but also both their lives.
