Story
In present-day New York City, a burglar named Edge enters the apartment of Angela, an elderly woman celebrating her 98th birthday. Instead of stealing from her, he becomes drawn to her and her story, eventually growing close to her. Meanwhile, a century ago in the Wild West of Macedonia, two brothers, Luke and Elijah, find themselves on opposing sides of a revolution against Ottoman rule. Elijah fights for the sultan's forces while Luke joins 'The Teacher,' a Macedonian rebel leader who seeks independence.
Summary
Dust is a complex tale of redemption and historical struggle directed by Milcho Manchevski. It interweaves two parallel storylines separated by over a century: one in contemporary New York City focusing on a thief named Edge and his encounter with Angela, an elderly woman with a fascinating past; the other set during a Macedonian revolution against Ottoman rule in the late 19th century, centering around two brothers, Luke and Elijah, who find themselves on opposing sides of the conflict. The narrative structure is fragmented like a Cubist painting, reflecting the interconnected yet distinct paths of these characters across time.
